Innovative Structure
Beginning with your walls, highly insulated panels will keep your home air- and watertight, providing up to 50 percent savings on energy costs. The tightly sealed wall system is mold resistant and discourages insects. The foundation is also well insulated to keep the heat where it belongs, in the house. Your windows may look normal, but they’re anything but.
Super-insulated windows keep the heat in during the winter and out during the summer. Highly efficient cooling and heating systems keep the indoor air fresh while using as little energy as possible.
A Smarter Home
An energy management system allows you to control your home’s energy usage from any computer or smartphone, putting the power of conservation literally in your hands. You can adjust the temperature inside your home, turn lights on or off, or just keep tabs on your energy consumption.
Smarter Construction
While we’re building your dream home, we work hard to keep our construction waste to a minimum, and we recycle everything we can. We don’t just talk about being green; we live it.
Water Conservation
The low-flow faucets, shower heads and toilets save water every time you use them. On-demand hot water means you don’t have to run the water and watch it go down the drain as you’re waiting for a comfortable temperature.
Gray-water systems recycle the water from your baths and kitchen and treat it so that it can be reused in the toilets, lowering your water consumption by as much as 40 percent. Rainwater collection systems provide water to irrigate your landscape or garden. Renewable Energy As part of our conservation efforts, Fine Line Homes has partnered with ENMAX Energy to provide a low-maintenance, cost-effective solution to help you generate your own electricity, lowering or completely eliminating your dependence on traditional energy sources. Any extra electricity created at your home is fed back into the grid, resulting in a credit on your electric bill. We also work with other partners to provide innovative solar electric and solar thermal systems, helping you harness the power of the sun to save energy and money.
Green Interior
For your home’s interior, we mainly use materials that are plentifully available, renewable, reused or recycled to create finishes that are beautiful to look at and environmentally friendly.
Low-VOC paints and coatings provide less indoor contamination from the volatile organic compounds that emit harmful toxins found in standard coatings, keeping your indoor air cleaner. We also work to limit the off gassing from other interior components, including the carpeting. We recommend carpets that are made from natural materials such as wool or corn. Other flooring materials include natural and reclaimed hardwood, cork and bamboo. To enhance the beauty and luxury of the kitchen and bathrooms, we use natural stone tile and countertops.
