We start with a home design that takes into account how to best use the sun for heating, lighting and power generation. Our “daylighting” techniques capture the natural light to help illuminate your home, with proper window placement and the use of skylights and sun tunnels. We also offer solar electric and solar thermal systems, as well as the ability to generate your own electricity. Any extra electricity generated goes back into the grid and results in a credit on your bill.

Each Fine Line home has a highly insulated and sealed building envelope that keeps out both air and moisture, an important part of energy savings. Superior insulating techniques are also used on the foundation, to keeps the heat in your home, preventing it from seeping into the ground. Both wall and roof systems can use structural insulated panels that provide 30 percent more insulation and make your home four times more airtight than traditional building materials. This can save you up to 50 percent in energy costs.

Super-insulating windows, which surpass Energy Star standards, also help make your home more comfortable, while providing greater sound control.
